Lol. Definitely flying!!! Glad I wasn´t on that plane. It was a fairly bumpy ride getting here on monday and the wind has got progressively worse. We are taking a battering as there is absolutely nothing here to slow the wind. Luckily the barge I'm on is in a relatively sheltered mooring and isn't moving much. Yes, I'm working all through the festive season. No festiving for me. Don't know why they didn't just shut down the site for a few days as at least 2/3 of the personnel have taken leave and the rest of us are there under duress. It's like the Marie Celeste in the office and there's hardly any work to do as so many people are off. Sigh... Unmerry xmas to me!

I seem to remember being in an office with Marie and Celeste one time...wasn't all that bad as I recall. I used to work as a night security guard in a number of places during my youth. It's amazing how empty offices creak, crack and make noises that create "what the f? " moments....especially if you were just getting a few minutes shut eye in the boardroom. :thumbsup:

| When I worked at the Daily Mirror in Canary Wharf, often I would be on floor 29 all by myself. We had motion sensor lighting at night so I would be at my desk in a little pool of light listening to the tower creak as it swayed in the wind. This was ok, until another pool of light appears, and you know you're the only person on that floor.....

It was only 14storey but the lift went up and down on its own. There was some story about the building being haunted by a construction worker who fell down the lift shaft. They had engineers in on many occasions and couldn't get it to stop 'doing its own thing'. I got use to the doors opening and closing, the lifts operating....in the dead of night. One Sunday morning in winter, I took a morning shift, relieving the other guard at 6am. The lifts were working merrily and as I set off on my round the doors open....and a man stepped out. I nearly jumped out of my skin and almost 'evacuated every orifice' (not the best example for a security guard). He had been working overnight ....and the previous guard had forgotten to mention there was someone in the building. The lift thing, was very strange. One could easily be convinced there was supernatural forces at work. One time I went to the 3rd floor canteen (to make a cuppa). When I got back in the lift and hit G for ground floor ....the lift doors closed and it went up to the 12th floor. I got out and (being a bit spooked by it) walked down the stairs. When I got down to the 3rd floor ... the lift was there again ...waiting with its doors open. I tended to use the stairs a lot.

| *cue spooky music* Don´t think I'd have been working in either of those places, Jan and Eric! I have loads of ghost stories from houses that I´ve lived in over the years. In one particularly spooky house, amongst other things, something used to pace up and down in the attic (which had been converted into rooms). Me and my mum were so spooked the first night we heard it that we sent the dog up the stairs, convinced someone was up there. The dog was bemused and went back to bed. There was no-one there of course but we heard the "footsteps" every night. Unfortunately, the attic was the location my dad decided to put the darkroom (this was the 80s). I really wanted to use his sw***y darkroom equipment so had to grit my teeth, play loud music and try not to think of our ghostly resident when I was up there, alone...in the dark.... Gulp!

| I'd say give us a twirl! You look very fluoro! Better to be seen in the gloom. Helly Hansen stuff is top price kit make sure you get a set before you leave! BTW Judith the Cherry Chutney is fab! Car is fine.

| Oh, you are a bunch of jokers, aren't you!! JK - The jacket is rather cosy, I have to say. It may have to find a new home outside of Shetland at the end of the project lol. I'm glad you ate the cherry chutney and survived - it obviously hasn't gone off then. LOL I can consider it safe to tuck into the jar I brought back for myself. Robert - Of course it's clean - it's brand new!! Sigh... However, I'm happy to report that my tackety boots have a respectable layer of mud on them now.
