d7000 problem switching off alert and fix

1^st Post

had a stomach churning problem with my D7000 this morning (to close to my holiday for problems),switched it on it wouldn't switch off or at least the top display would not .removed battery and put back in ,switched on again same problem .luckily a friend was with me and suggested looking on google for any similar problems ,yep it seems to be a common fault ,one guy suggested a hardware update ,but mines already done .
the problem is actually with the card recognition part and the solution is simply formatting BOTH CARDS simple fix but worth knowing about ,camera now perfect again

Useful information.

I think an email to Nikon UK describing the fault would be good. This sounds like there is a firmware bug or maybe your SD card was corrupted by something.

it seems to be a common fault jonathan .judging by the comments on you tube .yes i suppose a e/mail to nikon might be in order .by chance i picked up a couple of brochures today so i should be able to get a e/m addy off them

Thanks for the info Jeff. As a D7000 owner, it is good to have that in my memory bank. Maybe I had better write that down as at my age I tend to forget tid bits like that. :sssshh:

If people dont report it then Nikon dont investigate and fix. It is really important to formally tell them.

Googling for stuff to get a quick fix is fine but there may come a time when formatting the cards will be a disaster as you have data on the cards. If Nikon fixes the root cause then our cameras are in a safer environment with less chance of image/data loss.
