Anyone using Affinity photo?
I have had the trial but don't feel that the 10day trial is enough time to get the feel of the software.

I have a copy and it works well apart from the problem of not running my old Photoshop actions.  I have asked for the ability to run PS Actions as an enhancement so it may be delivered some in the future.
I think Eric uses Affinity Photo on his ipad.

As Jonathan said, I use it on the iPad. It's very comprehensive and has some nice features. I use it exclusively now as I prefer to 'work' in the armchair not at a desk. Some of the methods/features are quite different from Photoshop (eg making and moving selections around the frame) and that can be a bit frustrating when you are so use to Adobes way of doing things. But it handles raw files and frankly does this 'well enough' for my requirements. And being a cheapie app version I use on the iPad, I see no point in buying any expensive software anymore.

This is what I am looking at Eric as I'm feed up of giving adobe £10 a month for the privilege of using there software.
I bought Affinity photo for £38 and am finding my way around it now. Not working professionally anymore I don't need all the bells and whistles.
I will need to find some new DAM software as up till now I have used LR but it needs to be mac compatible.

We will see how it goes.

Iain take a look at NeoFinder the Personal edition is fairly cheap.  The Business edition is too expensive for my needs.
DAM products are pretty expensive.

Can you define exactly what you want from a DAM product?
If you can then I might be able to find another solution.

I need something like LR but without the development etc. something that I can keyword and then find photos quick.

Well I have cancelled my subscription to adobe. The last straw was when I find that I can't use it on my old Mac.

Really don't see the need for the expense and restrictive practises of Adobe in retirement. Affinity has a few peculiarities it's true, but the Photoshop functionality is there to be discovered.

Agree with Eric.  But there is the additional learning curve.

Iain, what version of MacOS are you on and what Photoshop version?
I am running Photoshop CS6 on my MacPro running High Sierra.

I discovered recently that The GIMP is available for MacOS Mojave and it does seem to work properly on High Sierra now, the previous version I had didn't open properly.
