For those of you who know me from years gone by then you know that I dislike Nikon Capture CNX v1 and v2.
However there is now Nikon Capture NX-D
http://www.dpreview.com/articles/9761524929/updated-nikon-releases-capture-nx-d-1-0-0-software

It is FREE.
Obviously it only supports Nikon cameras.

This software is a rewrite of the previous version and I can say that it is much, much better to the extent it is now installed on my main computer in case I need to use it.

One downside is that PicturePoint Control (Viveza2 technology as in GoogleNikSoftware) is no longer there.   I suppose you cant win every which way!.
The latest Google NikSoftware doesnt as yet work with NX-D so if you want then you have to use this via Photoshop.

Happy testing.

Got the NX-D installed and tried a few things. Will only be using it on copies.

It seems a bit slow when handling jpg's but OK with the NEF's.

Nikon has updated their NX-2 to NX-i. When installing it deleates the older NX-2. It also works with the NX-D and movie package.

50,
Do not get confused, I think you ae mixing VNX en CNX.
Also:
The View-NXi seems to be a beta version, note the install-routine de-installs any VNX2 on the system.
Regards, Gilbert (I passed on this one)

The NX-1 runs(plods) along poorly especially when trying to add a few new pix to a file.

Got the dreaded windows "Blue screen of death" last night on a Win7 machine.

Havn't seen one in years, could it be the new Nikon install??

WARNING - Don't use NX-I as your primary image browser if you need to handle non-Nikon RAW files.

When you try to copy-and-paste files from a memory card to the hard-drive using NX-I, it ignores non-Nikon RAW files without any warning. Can be disastrous if you habitually format the card after downloading the files.
