I have just had a bucket of cold water thrown in my face ....the price of used photographic equipment seems to have dropped considerably. I expected digital cameras to drop and hoped good glass would hold or even appreciate! But lighting equipment resale prices seem to have really dived. I was planning to offload some Bowens studio lighting equipment and a few lenses. The lens prices are ok ish...but the Bowens stuff is waaaaay down. off for a curry to cheer myself up.

Lighting stuff is always low as most professionals keep it until it dies. My Bowens Quad 2000 packs cost £400+ each. But they have lasted since 1990 and I bought them second hand today they are hardly worth £100. What Bowens kit do you have ?

Even more 'portable' for an old boy.

Eric, I offer my commisorations. Please consider that the lack for demand (and thus pricing) may be caused by the flood of low-cost (amateur grade) studio flashes from the far east. So if no-one wants the units, the prices go south. Regards, Gilberg

Eric- Gilbert has it right...a flood of low end stuff (read Paul Buff) and really big strides on the upper end ...read Profoto B500 - internal battery, TTL. I'm sitting with the same problem...but I lust for the new Profoto one

Well I have struck a deal with a local studio. I sold them some of my other studio lighting rigs last year when they first started up. Although this deal isnt as keen as last time! It seems business has been going well enough for them. They do their own photographic work but also hire out the studios and even do photogrpaphic courses. So they need some more portable lighting kits to make sure all rooms are set up ready. I've also listed a load of Nikon gear on their notice board to see if any visitors want some good glass.
