In the middle of clearing out the loft and tucked right under the eaves was this - does anyone know if it is a genuine Nikon box or aftermarket?

Looks like the style of box Nikon sold.
I dont think that it is complete as there are no dividers.
I dont know what might have been in there originally.

Did you find the camera and lens inside?

No - it was empty! I have the dividers and the original key - took them out to fit the camera + lens in

Not little - it is HUGE - sifting through it will take months ....

a peep from each end - the "bays" are full of boxes, each one needs to be gone through!

I had one of those black cantilever camera cases (in the centre of the bottom photo). Got it from Jessops if I remember back in the 1990s.
Are you planning on moving house or just tackling an early spring clean?

Lockdown clean out! The cantilever box has my Canon XL1S video cam in it - that is one heavy beast but takes excellent video.

We had a complete new roof installed before 1st lockdown. I took the opportunity to clear out the loft the quick way...out over the A frames down to ground level skip. Lol

And it was fresh air instead of a dark, dusty, insulation coughing experience.

I am a bit worried about completely emptying the loft - I am sure the weight was all that held the roof on in the 1987 October gales

Update on loft activity, still got a few more shelves to put in but at least I can walk from one end to the other!

Buried in here were my cine projector and films from 50 plus years ago - have had some fun watching these

No - it was just in serious need of sorting out - so much stuff had been put up there because it wasn't wanted cluttering up the house - the dustman has had a strenuous few weeks carting away bag after bag of recycling paper & card  and unrecyclable hard plastic toys etc.
