The EF to Nikon adapter arrived for the Canon FD 85mm 1.2 L Manual Focus Lens that I had also recently purchased. The adapter has a defective locking pin and is being replaced, but I jammed a toothpick into it for a few tryouts. This pic of a ballpoint tip is from a stack of 5 and sharpened with SmartDeblur at the 5x setting on a D5100, making it 7.5x. Very nice. Takes me back to when I used to do pictures of electron and light microscopy objects.

Took this test shot of a micro scale on a glass slide. It has a total length of one mm. and the small lines are .01mm apart. This was taken with a D5100 and the Canon lens at 5x. The shot was reduced in size and sharpened with SmartDeblur. Attachment: D5100__res.01mm b.jpg (Downloaded 47 times)

That is very impressive, almost microscope like. I can see why Ed Constable got one of these lenses for his macro work.

Good lens Jeff, Not sure if I posted a test shot I made with a Laowa X5 25mm f/2.8 lens... If I already posted it apologies. https://www.ukdigital.co.uk/laowa-25mm-f28-25-5x-ultra-macro-lens-nikon.html?utm_source=googleshopping&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI8q7qpOjA3gIVysqyCh1wRwFDEAQYASABEgKi6fD_BwE This was taken with my D800, @ f5.6 I think the ISO was a bit high so it's a tad noisy. You can see my reflection and the room beyond, reflected in the ball and the bevel of the ball support. The ball is 0.8mm diameter. Hand held and (poor) shop lighting. Looks great for handheld. Is it completely manual or can some functions work on the D800? Ukdigital seems to have a good price but they don't ship to Canada yet. I wouldn't have to pay VAT but would get hit with HST @ 13% when it came in ;~(

Hi Mike, it's completely manual, the working distance is good, obviously the DoF is paper thin at that magnification. This is a full frame, untouched, straight out of the camera image, I think it's at X2 but not sure on that. The DoF can be clearly seen on the counter surface, the gold item is the edge of a Pound coin. I would regard totally manual as a big plus for this type of work. It really needs focus stacking, which I will do once I get my bench made. While UK Digital may not send to Canada, I would have thought Laowa would have an agent in Canada? I know of users of this lens in the US. I don't know how accessible the US retail is for Canadians. Here is a thread from an enthusiastic US user. http://nikongear.net/revival/index.php/topic,7106.msg114483.html#msg114483 D800, 1/20second, f5.6, ISO4000, very poor, mixed fluorescent and daylight lighting. Again hand held, D800 jammed against the counter.
