I recently bought a refurbished Sigma 10-20mm Wide Angle Lens lens and was advised it would be compatible with my Nikon D3300. Unfortunately it does not. I have since been advised it is compatible with a canon camera. Is there any way I can buy an adapter to make this lens compatible with my camera? If so can anyone give advice to what I should be looking for?

Apologies, I am new to this and thank you for any help you can give. I should have researched more before purchasing this lens.

If it is Nikon lens it will only fit on Nikon cameras. If it has a Canon mount then it will only fit a Canon camera.
We need more detail of the lens to help you.

A photo of the lens mount and/or the OEM box the lens came in maybe helpful.

Welcome to the forum.

If it's a Sigma 10-20 f/4.0-5.6 lens made for Canon fit, it won't adapt to fit a Nikon.

Sigma make 'standard' lenses which they offer in various fittings for Nikon, Canon and other makes. The mounts are not DIY interchangeable, partly for the reason the electronics of the different manufacturers are not all the same. The AF motors, the lens ID and other functions are all proprietary so it's a no-go, sorry.

You need to either sell the lens and get a Nikon version or buy a Canon camera to use it.

The 10-20 Sigma is a very good lens on a DX Nikon, If you do get one for the D3300 you will enjoy using it, just wind it back slightly from the 10mm end for best results, 10mm is a bit extreme, even on DX

These are three images I made with a D200 and the Sigma 10-20.

One of the Historic Racing drivers at Three Sisters circuit, Wigan. Have never shown him this pic, I think he would not be pleased!!! The 10-20 is not ideal for portraits.

S,
Welcome.
If a lens is sold as "compatible with Nikon F mount" it should fit most Nikon cameras.
If the seller delivers a lens that is made for (any) Canon mount, the seller is at fault.
I would return the lens.
Regards, Gilbert
PS some may state that adapters are being made, but these will never give full compatibility like a made for Nikon lens and a Nikon camera would give.

welcome to the forum . unfortunately it sounds like the seller has told you lies to sell the lens .. was it a private sale or e/bay or shop the more info we have the more we can help .....

if it is a canon mount one it would be easier to sell the lens on and buy a suitable Nikon lens
