I haven't been out there this year. It's a long walk from the carpark. 😝

That said...it's a sight no one should miss.

There were nearly 100000 birds there when Graham and I went last year.

I think the difference is that the high tides are a little bit higher this year so ALL the birds are forced off the foreshore into the pits.

There is also a new hide that just opened with a photographers area, so I am guessing the images are taken from that.

I've not been joining any of the throngs, not worth the risk.

Didnt go to see the Rufus Bush Chat either...

Having lived in this area for over 40years I can remember when 120000 Knot were here, every year.
A warden at Titchwell recently got excited on social media when 6 Long Tailed Duck were seen on the sea at their reserve. We regularly saw hundreds of LTduck along with Scoters, Scaup and all the divers in their hundreds and thousands. Not any more.  They are rarely seen.

We had the best of times. That said, everyone should experience these stunning natural events. I think Graham enjoyed the experience.

You would be hard pushed to spot a rarity in that lot.

There was a rarity up here two weeks ago and there was 30+ all standing twitching it. I wonder how many of them have come down with corvid.

These nutters drive all over the country, at a moments notice. It's what turned me off being involved with Norfolk bird groups.

Current theme is Blue
