Whilst in the process of replacing the roof on my property the fresh air and light encouraged me to top up the insulation in the loft. (Really made a difference to radiator temperatures ...so I was obviously losing heat from the pipe runs) The fresh air clearly got to my head because my attention then turned to the mountain (30+years) of boxes, retained in case the purchase needed to be returned...and never was. Even folded flat it took 3 trips to the recycling centre in the back of the Discovery!! NB Gold Nikon boxes excluded. Then it was the storage area and my business accounts. 25years? Those were whittled down to the legal requirement. Finally, and I apologise to you dedicated archivists, I took a hard look at my film store. What on Earth do I want with reels and reels, hundreds and hundreds of feet of 8mm and 16mm footage, VHS and Betamax cassettes that had been sat in the loft for 25+years untouched? I have no projectors, no VHS or Betamax(who has?) playback devices....and never will have again. So I took a deep breath and dumped the lot. Before you pass out with the shock at my scandalous behaviour ....all the important stuff had been digitised. So if I ever, not happened in 25years todate, decide to look at this old footage, I still could....don't hold your breath. I chickened out when it came to the trannies and negs. Partly because they are more nicely filed but more that my hobby work was stored intermixed with business shoots, I didn't feel motivated to sort them. They are however on a stay of execution as they too (or many) have also been digitised. Over Christmas we intend to thin our book library...already overflowing the shelves and the wife has promised to tackle her craftroom 'empire'. As we start a new decade I intend to look very carefully (again) at my camera equipment....watch this space. The morale of the story is...don't take your roof off, it messes with your head. |

I emailed the secretary of our local club and my light tent, strobe stands and a couple of backgrounds went the next day!! The only downside was him trying to persuade me to join the club. |

Well enjoy the new roof. The old one didnt look too bad in pictures but the new one will keep you warmer and drier with the changeable weather. |
Current theme is Blue
