Seems as good a place as any! Without wishing to raise a brexit debate this is a prime example of why the UK is sick and tired of Brussels. The gravy train bureaucrats have little to do but invent something else to legislate on, I imagine their vision and the train tracks are without limit or buffers. I have only skimmed through the document but one phrase stuck out, commercial scale. My expectation would be that people such as ourselves won't be directly affected. But with the EU, who knows...

I dont think it will seriously effect us. It is still very loose definition so would need to see the full detail of the proposals. Of course with Brexit this still effects us here in UK even after Brexit but our servers are in USA so we need to be more aware of US copyright law.

I read something a little while ago about any recognisable images of people, even in the street might complain if they have been published. But even that seemed to say that personal use would be exempt, although not sure if that extends to publishing images here for example for sharing technical discussion or critique, I think that's OK but I don't know where a newspaper stands, will they have to get a wavier from everybody in the picture...

That is the Culprit over here in Europe with all that Brussel-bickering going on,..over in the USA the rules are that when copy is considered news or for personal use then there is No Copyright involved, basically , as in: when there is No ( financial ) gain,..then there is No Pain !! That is how I understand it.
