This new Sony mirror less seems to have a lot going for it. http://blog.sony.com/press/28061/ Thought a lot of the members would like the size, full frame, and lower 12mp sensor with low noise high 409,600 ISO. Just a note: maybe it's time to go back to the DIN ratings where 409600 ISO = 58DIN so that next years' 3,476,800 ISO or 3 stops more is 67 DIN.

Definitely agree that the ISO numbers are getting too big. There is a lot going for the DIN system. The Sony camera seems to be much more useful than the other ones in the A7 range. If I wasnt into the Fuji range of X cameras then I might b interested. I do think that Nikon need to think long and hard about the advantages/disadvantages in DSLR of Optical v. EVF. They could with a little thought build another game changer like the F and F2 with different viewfinders or maybe have the same sensor based camera but one with EVF (electronic viewfinder) and other with OVF (optical viewfinder).

Definitely agree that the ISO numbers are getting too big. There is a lot going for the DIN system. For those not familiar with the DIN system http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Film_speed ISO --- DIN 25 --- 15 50 --- 18 100 --- 21 200 --- 24 400 --- 27 800 --- 30 You get the drift! The A7S Sony camera seems to be much more useful than the other ones in the A7 range. If I wasnt into the Fuji range of X cameras then I might be interested. also the Sony lens range is a bit limited. Of the not Canon and Nikon manufacturers I think Olympus/Panasonic have the bbest lens range but Sony have some very innovative cameras but for a combo of both Fuji take a lot of beating. The new XT1 has had a few teething problems but it is a great camera to use. I do think that Nikon need to think long and hard about the advantages/disadvantages in DSLR of Optical v. EVF. Jonathan re: You get the drift! I get it (grin) But I think the strive for higher ISO/DIN is mostly to satisfy the marketing people, justy like the hunt for higher resolution. When did I last see any useful picture, taken at more than ISO1600 ? Regards, Gilbert

I find that the D600 gives good results to 6400 and a friend finds the same thing with the D4S at 12800. He says that the 409600 is like a D1 at 6400 :~).
