Already having my D3100 I don't need another small body, I think the fold out screen which may be appealing to some would be a liability for me, I need robust, not fragile!
I bought the D3100 for video and it works well enough for my needs in that respect, what I really like about the 3100 is the P&S in full idiot mode when I am working on the car and want to record stuff for reference, grease up to the elbows I don't want to be messing about with settings, I just want to take photo's. It's perfect for that.
Edited due to wretched pre-emptive text converting well to week???
I was thinking that the D5300 makes for a great expedition camera as it allows GPS as well as 24MP so good for cropping or zooming with detail when you dont have a full set of lenses with you. So camera plus 18-55 and 55-300 DX AFS lenses will make for a great combo that is light and functional.

The articulated LCD, lighter weight and GPS features are strong positives for a flexible, portable expedition camera. But the D7100 isnt that much bigger and has many of its own features (eg. double slots, weatherproofing ) and isn't much more expensive. I wonder which wins the day?
Thinking of it for overseas travel. Would get a Nikkor 18-300 along with my Sigma 8-16.
Current theme is Blue
