a question for the technically minded ,i try to look after my equipment and keep everything neat and tidy ,today i was showing my camera setup to the gasman who was doing some work for me ,and guess what it wouldn't initially a/f .i got it working to show him eventually ,job done .
however a few minutes ago i decided to make sure all the contacts were clean and working ,the set up is ,nikon d300s ,nikon 1.7tc and 300mm f4 lens .my standard set up which RARELY CHANGES .i have highlighted that as its true very seldom do i use it differently .
now the question is when i just cleaned the contacts and steel mount rings ,i removed just by wiping with a plain microfibre cloth a substantial amount of grease ,probably only a smear in reality ,but it has no reason to be there so can anyone enlighten me as to where it could be coming from and how its finding its way on to my contacts and mounts

I would begin by looking at the horse meat meatballs with sauce from Ikea Jeff.

Gary may be right.
I understand that other IKEA products may also have the same problems as I have heard many complaints at the Customer Service desk. They tend to be around the fact that something is a load of balls or something like that!

It gets everywhere.
I clean my glasses and within nanoseconds...it's back.

I've been wearing my glasses a lot more in the last few months as its easier to have something that I wear and can take off easily for close up work (compared with my contact lenses) than carrying around a pair of readers that really only work well at one focal distance when I wear my contacts.
I have noticed my glasses since I put then on top of my head get greasy marks very quickly. I wash my hair alternate days but there are still greasy hair marks!!!

That's funny, I have the same problem when I put my glasses on top of my head and it can't be my hair.

Head grease!
Second only to nose grease in its ability to migrate from its intended location.
