A major Nikon D500 firmware upgrade with over 20 fixes is rumored to be released in August or September. I do not have any details what exactly will be included.

Thanks JK, I guess it will be fine tuning to deal with any bugs that a general release to the users may have revealed. Nothing like unfettered, inquisitive users to find bugs!

I think that there are mostly bug fixes but there may also be something to address the wifi anomaly e.g. On D500 you dont have a proper wifi connection like on the D750, only the SnapBridge technology.
SnapBridge still is not available on iOS and wont be here until August. This is crazy situation. It is available on Android but not iOS! Should have been available at camera launch.

Yes I read all about SnapBridge then tried to up-load it and found it just was not there! In mean time the more I use the D500 the more I like it hardly ever pick up the D810 cthese days.
I do wish I had held onto the 18-200 DX lens that I parted with when I go rid of my D300. I may treat myself to an 18-140 DX tried on in the shop and quality is very good for "normal" pix? My 24-70mm is great lens on D810 but a bit large on the D500 an not quite wide enough.

It's interesting you find the 24-70 too big for the d500. It's my observation that it is also too big for my d750, it ruins the balance in the hand. I have even been wrestling with the need to keep it!

Having retired from pro shooting I find myself less interested in getting the 'money shot' and am content just to record an event, item or location as well as I am able with lesser equipment (weight and spec).

I still have my 18-200 AFS VR but I find it really annoying to use the lens as the zoom friction is too low and it zooms to 200mm when the camera is on your shoulder.
It needs a switch to lock it in transport mode or stiffer grease for the zoom mechanism.
I will ask next time I phone the NPS team.
