Well, JK, let's see how posting an image works - here's one taken last week in mid Wales. D800 but really need a prime lens for the sharpest image - this one was with the 80-400mm. Birds are not my main interest, if they were I'd treat myself to a prime.

For me, a great step forward with the D800 is the new 'easy exposure compensation', just turn the rear (or front) dial while on the run - just like Canon have had for a long time.

My next task is to see how to get an avatar on the forum!

I'm sure Steve and JK are trying to keep other people from posting so they can get a head start.
Lol.

Teehheee.
Well Steve and I will have to stop this messing around customising and do some serious posting soon.

I' m liking the look of that D800.  Those images from Ken are wonderful.

Iain and Ken try loading some of your images into the Gallery.

That's something I have never got around to on the old forum but I'll have a go.

Two things to mention - the speed of the new forum is incredible, I can't see myself looking at the old forum anymore - will it last I wonder?

The other point is that I don't appear to have to clock in on this forum, I suppose this is correct? - on the old forum I had to sign in everytime I visited it!

That is how it is at present.  We may need to adjust the new forum so that the login is not held as this slows down the server if it has to maintain loads of inactive logins.

Oh dear Andy.  I hope you were successful.
Not a good way to spend Easter.   Mind you it is a dull and cold day apparently.

Plugged external monitor in and got around it that way....just means keeping look out for new screen or laptop.

So! Where are the rest of the regulars - could there be a reason for them not finding their way here yet!

This new site is so fast - thanks!

I guess they will be over as soon as we start to close up the shutters on the old site.
Really we want a nice new site with most of the customisations done.

I've been testing the gallery feature today and I think it needs some enhancements.

Hey guys,
Got your email today and registered. Must be some years since I went to video. Now, I'm back with Nikon and a D800. Hope to see more of your work soon.

Cheers,
Paul

Hi Paul. Glad to see you are across here. The DSLRs got video now but not properly like in a decent video camera but hey it might get you back to taking stills.

What's the protocol here in Introductions?

Is an introduction required?
Should we each create a new thread or just post to one big introductions thread?

BTW I'm Doug and I'm pretty sure you all know me. If you want more info just ask:popcorn:

Hi,  I am just practicing using the new site.  Thanks for working so hard to build it.
I see that you don't automatically get logged out if you are off for awhile.

We need to fix that as you should be logged out after an hour!
