Hello, I have always loved photography but never learned the necessary things to get out of shooting on auto. In 2004, when the new Nikon D70 came out, I purchased immediately. It has been a great camera but recently started having some problems.

I am waiting on my new D7200 to arrive and can't wait. I am going to take a camera class and try to get the basics down. I am once again excited about getting into this hobby. I will be going from 6 MP to 24 MP.

I mainly want to make portraits of my grandchildren and would love to be a pet photographer as I am retired and have plenty of time to learn.

Welcome to the forum. The d70 was a great little camera! Many of us members 'cut our digital teeth' on it. I finally converted mine over to Infra Red before moving on to newer models.

The D7xxx cameras are excellent. You will certainly notice a step change in performance but many of the operating features will be familiar. The high iso potential will be a revelation. You will be able to capture images in much darker lighting and/or use faster shutter speeds and smaller apertures for creative purposes without noise spoiling the images.

Look forward to seeing some of you photos with the new camera. And remember there is a lot of experience on this forum to help with any questions you may have,
