I think the 'Add as Friend' and 'Ignore Member' buttons are a bit large and prominent
A single page could have in excess of 10 'Ignore Member' buttons all of which are too easy to click accidentally

I've ignored a member on purpose to test the functionality and it immediately ignores that members posts throughout the whole forum
It's then not obvious or easy to un-ignore
(go to home page, click my account, click ignore, check box next to ignored member, click remove from list):diggingahole:

I think I agree with you Doug, I also can't see a "Notify Moderator" button which would be useful.

I think they need to be that size to show the text label.
Yes I think we have space and need for a 'Report!' button that sends email to forum moderators with a link to the offending post.

In which case may I make another suggestion?

Make the boards slightly narrower and put the menu to the left hand side. that way you don't have to navigate quite so far to get back to the forum topics page.

Can the ignore and friend buttons not be located on the appropriate members page.

After all ignoring members isn't something we want to do on a frequent basis.

It should also be a two stage process so it can't be done by accident. Especially on small devices.

I think that is a good idea Robert, I know what it's like using a iPhone.

I'll go along with that

I guess moving the buttons to another page would involve changing quite a lot of functionality I guess. Need to discuss how easy/difficult this is with Steve.

I can remove the ignore buttons if we don't want them. I have to tell you the ignore feature is buggy anyway, and sometimes it's a visit into the database to remove members accidentally kicked into ignore.

Yes please Steve, it just adds to the clutter.

What is the 'Friends' button all about, to me all the members here are friends, I don't need to single them out digitally. I suppose on a really large forum with thousands of members it might be needed but not here?

What is the difference between the Edit, and Edit Source buttons?

They both seem to do the same thing, do we need the Edit Source button, if so why?

I'm happy if the Ignore buttons go.

Can we have a Recent button showing in all forms not just the top level?

Yes we need both as it allows the showing of some extra content of the post.

I have been wondering what the purpose was for these two buttons and wonder why we need them. The friends button turns into a popularity contest and the ignore is rude.

I see no value in either.

You can ignore this post if you disagree.

I agree wholeheartedly Gary, and no, I won't ignore you!

I think the two buttons 'Ignore' and 'Friend' are intended for a much larger, different kind of forum.

I agree, and particularly browsing on an iPad or phone are too easy to hit in error.

So please Steve or JK unless there is some compelling reason for them to stay, will you remove the 'Add a friend' and 'Ignore' buttons from the forum screens at your convenience.

Can that be done at the same time as removing the 'Friend' buttons? It might be useful one day, although now we have some defences from Spammers and two more active mods perhaps it isn't really needed.

If a report button were added it would be better in a less conspicuous place as it was on the old forum, It doesn't need to be top centre.

I really only suggested a "Report" button because, despite the quality of moderators, getting a first offending post in is relatively easy. This forum relies on an assumption that everyone is legit until proved otherwise. A report button allows us all to be responsible for spotting things that we don't want.

If I want to ignore someone I simply don't read what they post, not that there is anyone here that I would apply that to, so the button is, for me at least, pointless.

I think that a little more space between the buttons on the bottom of each post would be good.

In fact Back to Top could move to right side then the PM and IP buttons could move under the avatar on left side.
Then the other buttons could be just spaced out a bit further.
This allows for fat fingered iPad browsing.

Yes, I think having them all centred makes them too cluttered.

We still need a report button, which could be right justified?

Yes a Report button is needed.
Need to wait for Steve to look at this.
