Watching the Olympics last night and all the photographers and load knows there are scads of them everywhere at an Olympics.. This gaggle of shooters was shooting a competitor, after a performance. I noticed one guy in the middle of the group had his leans cap on!!! I watched as everyone else was shooting away, and he was turning the camera on and off, checking this and that, bushing buttons, etc. Finally he turned the camera around and saw the same thing I did, the Nikon logo right smack in the middle of his lens hood!!! It's kind of nice when even a pro shooter misses the old lens cap, once in a while !! Is Steve shooting anything at the Olympics????

Obviously he couldnt work out the black view he was getting through the camera! I think Steve is recovering from his three week trip to USA.

Likewise, it was just funny watching the guy fumbling while all around him were blazing away... In the old days of motordrives, I used to occasionally get an eyebrow or a mustache hair caught in the film take up spool.. The ones next to my nose used to bring a tear to my eye!!!! And really caught my attention

My relatively new Fuji X100 adds the complexity of a normal view through the viewfinder while the lens cap is still on. Makes me feel old!

Thanks Robert. Well I did have a bit of trouble moving across, but I have been so busy at work since Christmas I have barely taken a shot, let alone looked at the forum.

Hi Richard, Glad you have found your way over to the new server. Hope that you have all the new kit working and are familiarized with it.

Rich is this broken metering a failure of the kit or is it caused by a drop? I'm sure that it should be easily fixable but I guess you may be out of warranty. I guess you have checked the metering modes and the camera isnt stuck in Spot metering.

Yes, both matrix (or whatever Fuji call that) and spot over expose. It's the same issue I talked about before, consistently overexposes now. I'm basically shooting manually looking at the histogram and adjusting. I a perverse kind of way it kind of fits the feel of the camera, and being someone who only got into photography late with very capable meters available in some ways I'm learning more from this failure which is kind of rewarding. I might get it fixed at some point, but I'm in no hurry. Interestingly in portrait mode it actually does OK a lot of the time, but in Landscape it nearly always overexposes.
