Well guess who is a Douglas Adams fan.... :smilesmall:

Having studied Robert's wonderful night skies it really does make me feel an insignificant dot on an insignificant dot of a planet .... the last thing we need is a sense of proportion!

Psychology of motivation - hmm, I think that, at my time of life, I have now got into a routine of just doing what I want, when I want so I don't think much about whether I am motivated or not - when it comes to photography, yes I like to have good equipment - the Nikon + lenses and the Canon XL1s video cam both have their places.

But to be brutally honest, I only use them when I am deliberately going out to capture something that is planned - Italy for instance.

99% of the time the opportunity for a good photo arises in an instant and the only available device is often the phone - that is one of the reasons I choose the Samsung over an iPhone.  Yes, the quality of the image is not as good but it is good enough and the memory is triggered just as well in the future, I love looking back over photos taken over the years - even the old super8 films!

So the argument over mirrored vs mirrorless is easy for me - I like the old technology of the Nikon, the EVF of the Canon and the convenience of the phone. I won't be investing in anything that costs me more than a few quid - mainly cos I spend a lot of money on my horse!

Well thank you Chris, I wouldn't call you insignificant but I know what you mean.
