 Well, I went into John Lewis today and had a wee play with the 70-300mm.  Very nice and surprisingly lightweight.  I think it may have to find its way into Santa's sack. :rudi:

I couldn't remember the price on that link that Eric posted but now that I've seen it's 40 quid cheaper + the nikon cashback, I'll ask if they will price match, seeing as they say they are never undersold!  Just easier to get to a John Lewis store in the event of a problem than a shop in Devon. :thumbsup:
