I was actually born and lived the first 5years of my life right next to the Halifax RFC ground shown in the pictures. I remember running up those steps (where the men were sitting) through the weeds. YES ...there were always weeds even 10-20 years before the photo was taken. There was no money to have it tended. But no one minded a 'bit of greenery' amounts the grey stone we lived in. I had seen this clip on the BBC ....but thanks Robert for sharing.
