a question for the technically minded ,i try to look after my equipment and keep everything neat and tidy ,today i was showing my camera setup to the gasman who was doing some work for me ,and guess what it wouldn't initially a/f .i got it working to show him eventually ,job done . however a few minutes ago i decided to make sure all the contacts were clean and working ,the set up is ,nikon d300s ,nikon 1.7tc and 300mm f4 lens .my standard set up which RARELY CHANGES .i have highlighted that as its true very seldom do i use it differently . now the question is when i just cleaned the contacts and steel mount rings ,i removed just by wiping with a plain microfibre cloth a substantial amount of grease ,probably only a smear in reality ,but it has no reason to be there so can anyone enlighten me as to where it could be coming from and how its finding its way on to my contacts and mounts
