As Kathy says it is a common business trend. In the end they all (including Canon and Nikon) forget that their customers keep them in business. It is a sad state of affairs when they put investor relations before customer relations. It is more difficult to get new customers than investors. Also investors will return to a successful company but will flee from any failing one.
