Fox, re: had one ,know about them Please consider that the D300 (when launched) it was the DX brother of the Professional D3 camera. As you state, AF and pure speed are much better than most consumer cameras. If you appreciate those qualities over the marketing and journalist inspired megapixel-hype, you will love and cherish your new purchase. The number of exposures you mention should not be a worry, unless the camera has been mistreated in the past, or your aim is to do huge numers of exposures, like some sports photographers.
