Some very good shots Rick. I attended a college baseball game not very long ago and observed a professional photographer taking photos of the game. He had 2 camera bodies and the one the use the most had a very long lens attached to it. He did move around on the outside of the field and used mostly the long lens. He had some credentials hanging from his neck which allowed him access to areas you and would not be able to enter but his key seemed to being mobile and a very expensive piece of glass  Looks like you have the concept down and just need more ball games to attend and practice.
