There is no question about SONY`s expertise with the digital imaging industry, after all, they made the first true Digital cine camera in conjunction with Industrial Light & Magic - PANAVISION - with SONY manufacturing the camera that was used to film the entire " Return of the Jedi ".

I have seen that camera overhere with an ANGENIEUX zoom on it,...begs the question...after their take-over of KONICA-MINOLTA, who makes SONY lenses ..the answer is not clear to me, as with the Pro-camera`s lenses of different manufacture are mounted, PANAVISION .. ANGENIEUX..and I have even seen a COOKE lens mounted. ( Expensive Buggers them are, 22000 pounds for a prime lens...makes even SCHNEIDER glass look cheap ).

But on the semi-pro ones do I see SONY engraved, some ZEISS , so who makes those then, do you know ?

I thought Sony makes their own lenses????

They did have a cooperation with Zeiss where Sony used some of their technolog hence the badge recognition…but the lenses I thought (again) were still made by Sony???

I was only joking about whacking the Sony lenses….like Graham I’ve not had any bad results from any of their lenses and they do seem very much to be in sync with the camera functionality.
