First went to Murano 26 years ago during our first trip to Venice. Hotel reception said we could have a free water taxi to take us to the island. Of course we arrived at the factory's private jetty and then twigged why the taxi was free. Interesting tour but pressured to the shop even that long ago.
Waterford Crystal in Ireland is similar as far as production goes. A small factory where the specialist work is done by the main production is in the Czech Republic.
