Had you not considered updating the firmware on the D500 to accept the CF express cards... Not 100% up on the tech, just posting on the hoof from memory, I posted a link about it a while back...As CFExpress cards aren't available yet I don't think Nikon have released any firmware updates for them.

The Z's are said to be upgradable to take these alternative cards too.
