I've been reading Steve Perry's book on Nikon focusing system and his recommendations for camera settings. He doesn't use AF-S but sets it to AF-C all the time and uses the back AF-ON button for AF. With this method of focusing he simply takes his thumb off the back button once focus is acquired to effectively give AF-S. I was planning on changing the habits of a lifetime and configuring the camera in his manner next week. You can guarantee I will be in a b@ggers muddle !!
