I think the difference is seen when you try to enlarge the photo much past postcard size t becomes grainy.
I have been looking at some of my iPhone SE images. They look fone on the phone and when enlarged just a little but at any size around 8x10 or A4 they look pretty ropey.
I appreciate that, for critical appraisal...but I haven't printed any of my 'general photography' shots for yonks,
