Have never used a wire welder so can be of no help. My Grandson is an expert however and his Father is no slouch. The closest I ever came to it was Heli-Arc welding in the 60's. Used a Tungsten electrode and helium as the gas but filler rod was by hand. We used it to weld up tire molds. I was a supervisor but played with it till I actually became pretty good. Almost all welding was on Aluminum molds.
