Not if you want it for birding? The extra reach with the crop sensor is an advantage with small subjects. The other thing with DX the focus sensors cover most of the screen, with FX the sensors remain the same size but the extra area is added to the surroundings, if that makes sense? In other words with FX the sensors are grouped effectively more tightly to the central area in relation to the frame area.
