I have the D7100 and among other lenses an 18 to 140 I use this combination as a walkabout kit and it works very well for me.
I several better lenses but they are not as light or compact
I would highly recommend the D7100 since you are not interested in the WIFI or GPS the D7200 offers
The D7100 is a great camera and since it is not the current model the price has come down to about half of what it was brand new. I have found it to be easy to learn and use effectively
