Yes the Photos app for iOS has been around for a while and will stay or be somewhat enhanced for mobile devices but the version to be released in Yosemite will be much more powerful (apparently) as it will have RAW processing and enhanced DAm features.
However until the laptop/desktop version is released we can only hope and suppose that they will delivered with good functionality.

Time will tell but I actually have all I need.
