Most of the UPS units already have surge protection built in but if you need the power bar it won't hurt as most surge protectors are just capasitators that soak up current pulses.

Make sure that you buy a large enough unit to handle the load of all your stuff for at least longer than your average blackouts.

It should also have an easly replaceable battery as they tend to go every few years but the basic unit can often last over 10 years.
